Lido Lighting: Our Story
After establishing Lido Lighting in the 1970’s, Bill Pierro Sr., worked to grow the company into a premier national account lighting distributor. He soon became viewed as a major pioneer in the retail lighting industry.
The company grew through the hard work of loyal, long time employees and retailer friends. Today, Lido Lighting is currently ranked within the top 10 national lighting distributors nationwide.
Twenty Years Later
After 20 years of having worked every seat in the company, Bill Pierro Jr., LC, took the reins from his father as the President of Lido Lighting. The second-generation family business continues to maintain its values from the past, while adapting to today’s challenges. Bill’s passion for lighting and new technology is what motivates him and the rest of the team.
There is always urgency in our office and a commitment to choosing the best possible method for every project, rather than a profit…it’s just what Bill Sr. has taught us.
Creating Positive Client Experiences
At Lido Lighting, we pride ourselves on our dedication to urgency. From the initial call to project completion, we strive to create the best possible experience for our clients.
We believe voicemail is not part of that experience. That’s why we ensure that every caller connects with a real person who can provide them with immediate assistance.
Meet the Lido Lighting “Leadership” Team
William G. Pierro
Founder
As a first generation American, both of William’s parents came over in the 1920’s. In 1961, he was in the first graduation class of Nassau Community College; the American Dream come true. In his young years, he worked a press at his father’s tool and dye shop, working and fabricating with metal.
He started in the lighting business in 1969, when specialty stores were only using fluorescent lighting. He helped introduce track lighting to draw attention to the merchandise and rounded out the spec with Emergency and Exits that met local codes. He convinced manufacturers to issue warranties and future maintenance was minimalized.
When William started, he was fortunate that older gentlemen in other trades took him under their wing. By their actions and examples, they taught him how to conduct himself in the retail construction world.
AND PASS IT FORWARD…
On July 3, 1974, William’s son was born. He continued to stay focused and hoped that one day they would work together. On August 5, 1996, his wish came true. Today, his son is the President of Lido Lighting…and he could not be prouder.
Bill Pierro, Jr., LC
President
Bill Pierro, Jr., is a second-generation lighting professional and a graduate from Loyola College in Maryland. He was one of the youngest people in the country to receive and maintain the Lighting Certified (LC) credential when it was created.
After working over 20 years, with at least one year at every position in the company, including reception and warehouse, he was able to learn many skills first hand. Bill now leads the team as President of Lido Lighting. He continues to maintain his old school family values and holds them in high regard.
He is constantly learning and exploring the latest and greatest in lighting technology and development of connected buildings and controls. Bill’s genuine passion for lighting and loyalty to clients is what drives him and the rest of the team.
Bill also loves to play golf, go boating, fishing, beach volleyball, and just casually hang out in his flip flops. He is happily married with an adorable little girl…who owns him and he loves it.

Controls Guru
Lighting Controls Specialist
I started in the industry as a lighting procurement specialist, but gradually took a liking to lighting controls. Becoming a “Controls Nerd,” as my wife calls it, is just fun to me. I like following technology and problem solving. Controls gives me that opportunity to explore. There’s never a project to large or too small to solve. Beer league softball MVP. It doesn’t matter how many times you get knocked down, it’s all about how you get back up.
